Carteret Community College Athlete Recruitment

Blake Herring

Blake Herring is leading the launch of a new era for Kraken Baseball as the inaugural Head Baseball Coach at Carteret Community College. With more than a decade of collegiate coaching success, Herring has built a reputation for developing championship-caliber teams and helping student-athletes succeed both on the field and in the classroom. During his ten seasons at Louisburg College, he guided the Hurricanes to more than 250 victories and helped over 100 players continue their baseball careers at four-year institutions. His programs consistently earned Region 10 recognition, producing award-winning players and even MLB Draft selections.

An eastern North Carolina native, Herring understands the strong baseball tradition and community spirit that make this region special. After standout playing careers at Lenoir Community College and Campbell University, he went on to coach at Carson-Newman University and Louisburg College, earning respect for his leadership, player development, and competitive mindset. Now, Herring is focused on building a dynamic, high-energy program that Kraken fans and the Carteret community can rally behind — one grounded in hard work, character, and a commitment to excellence. Alongside his wife, Kelly, and their children, Peyton and Carson, Herring is excited to call Carteret home and shape the future of Kraken Baseball.

Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Park has coached and developed athletes across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and China, building a reputation for competitive excellence and strong player development. Most recently, he helped Northwest Mississippi Community College capture back-to-back NJCAA National Championships, giving him firsthand experience in building and sustaining elite collegiate programs.

In addition to holding a UEFA B License, Park currently leads both the Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Soccer programs at Arendell Parrott Academy and founded the European Soccer Training Academy (ESTA), a high-performance program for youth and college-bound athletes. With deep ties to Eastern North Carolina, Park is passionate about creating a fast-paced, competitive soccer culture that connects with the local community while giving student-athletes the opportunity to grow on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.

Jenny Wilson

Jenny Wilson is helping lay the foundation for Kraken Women’s Cross Country with a coaching philosophy centered on endurance, discipline, and total athlete wellness. As the program’s inaugural Head Coach, Wilson brings years of experience in distance running and athlete development, along with a passion for mentoring student-athletes through every stage of their collegiate journey. Her vision for the program emphasizes resilience, personal growth, and building a team culture that pushes athletes to compete at their highest level while supporting one another along the way.

Beyond coaching, Wilson offers a unique perspective through her work as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), giving her specialized knowledge in conditioning, recovery, and injury prevention. A dedicated distance runner herself, she has competed in numerous endurance races, including the Boston Marathon. As both a community college graduate and longtime member of the Carteret County community, Wilson is committed to creating an athlete-centered program where runners can thrive academically, competitively, and personally as part of the Kraken family.
